This report has been developed through the Kent Environment Strategy (Strategic Landscape Enhancement Plan 2015) ; a partnership of organisations working together to deliver actions for the benefit of Kent’s Environment.

The Medway Valley Landscape Enhancement Plan offers guidance for change along the Medway Valley within Maidstone Borough. It complies with the European Landscape Convention definition of landscape, ensuring the landscapes valued by residents form a central part of the report. Through consultation, and using the landscape as a framework the Guidance identifies issues and opportunities, highlighting ways through careful and integrated decision-making, multiple benefits can be achieved.

The Plan uses landscape as the common thread, tying together cross-disciplinary aspirations and aims for the area. With a single framework based upon landscape the Plan cements the complementary activities within numerous plans and strategies which exist for the area.

The Medway Valley Landscape Enhancement Plan could be used to inform planning, the creation of new policy, land management and project design, by multiple agencies or land owners along the Medway Valley in Maidstone.
